Women's knit cardigans for layering
Most of our cotton knit cardigans come in XXS to XL. A knit cardigan is the simplest layer there is: warmth without weight, on and off in a second, worn open or closed depending on the hour.
Which cardigan should I choose?
Choose by length and weight. The Fine Knit Cropped Cardigan and the Soft Knit Rib Crop Cardigan end at the waist, the easiest length to wear over a dress or high-waisted pants, and the longer styles reach the hip and work like a light jacket over a T-shirt. The knits run from fine to slightly heavier, but every knit cardigan here is light enough to layer and has enough body to hang well when worn open.
What are our cardigans made of?
Our cotton cardigans are knitted from cotton blended with at least 14% recycled nylon, 20% recycled polyester or a little nylon, depending on the style. We also make wool cardigans, knitted from 50% wool and 50% recycled nylon. Every product page lists the exact fabric composition, and you can read more about how we source and select our yarns.
What to wear them with
Wear one over a T-shirt, a dress or a fitted knit tank top, and pair it with matching knit pants for a set that runs from top to bottom. These are the layers for cool mornings, evenings that turn and the extra bit of coverage you want indoors. A basic cardigan in a color you actually wear ends up in rotation more than almost anything else in the wardrobe, and our women's knitwear collection has the sweaters, pants and tanks that go with it.
Sizes and care
Most styles come in XXS to XL, and many go up to XXL or XXXL. Wash knits cold on a gentle cycle, reshape them while damp and dry them flat, away from direct heat.
