Meet the Impact Index
A tool that calculates the true cost of fashion. By measuring our own environmental footprint and comparing that against traditional industry practices we can show you the environmental savings when better practices are used.
We look across the entire supply chain and assess the life cycle footprint of a single product - from raw material production, to textile manufacturing - through to the consumer phase.
These are the measures we look at
2.43 tonnesSo far we’ve saved this amount
of waste from entering landfills.*
WasteHumans send approximately 92 billion tonnes of textile waste into landfills every year. That’s often fabric that could otherwise be downcycled into things like upholstery or upcycled into beautiful new garments. We work with factories that use efficient fabric cutting techniques and recycle their textile offcuts in order to reduce the total amount of waste.
29.23 tonnesSo far we’ve saved this amount
of harmful chemicals.*
ChemicalsOver 2000 nasty chemicals like lead, mercury, chlorine and formaldehyde are used to manufacture clothing and these can harm our planet’s ecosystem and people. Some of these are known carcinogens and not even 1/10th of the 1600 used in dyeing are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. We work with eco-certified processes that eliminate harmful chemicals.

EnergyCreating clothing is energy intensive - but things can be improved by partnering with factories and suppliers that run on clean, renewable energy. It’s as simple as that. We only work with factories that make an effort to reduce their energy footprint and run their factories on cleaner supplies.
163 tonnesSo far we’ve prevented this amount
of CO2 emissions
(not including our own offsets)*
EmissionsClimate change is the biggest issue our planet faces - and the fashion industry is a big part of the problem. Production emissions release CO2 and other harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere - contributing to climate change. Now we completely offset our carbon footprint with CHOOOSE - but that doesn’t mean we’ll stop reducing our carbon emissions across the supply chain.

WaterIt’s our planet’s most precious resource, but over 1 billion people don’t have access to safe drinking water. Part of the reason for that is because the fashion industry has typically used extremely high amounts of fresh water from sources such as rivers and lakes to manufacture clothing. We’ve chosen fabrics and processes that reduce the amount of water used.
Comparing our fabrics against the others
Organic CottonOur organic cotton is grown on the coast of the Aegean Sea without the use of harmful insecticides and pesticides - helping to prevent soil contamination and other harmful chemical effects. We also work with factories that minimize textile waste and down cycle all of their off-cuts. All of this in turn reduces harmful CO2 and other greenhouse gases.
Recycled nylonOur recycled nylon comes from Mantua, Italy - and it’s one of the leading sustainable textile manufacturers in the world. Using recycled materials helps divert waste away from landfills and creates huge savings in water and CO2 during the raw material production phase when compared to virgin nylon. Recycled nylon also doesn’t require any petroleum to manufacture.
Recycled nylon with Polygiene® treatmentAdditional savings are created when we treat our fabrics with a safe, bluesign® approved recycled silver salt called Polygiene® which helps the fabric stay fresher for longer and reduces the need for frequent washing. Through consumer surveys we have found that our SilverTech™ Active products are washed ½ as much as people’s other activewear - which results in additional CO2 and water savings.
TENCEL™ LyocellKnown as the holy grail of sustainable fabrics - TENCEL™ Lyocell is made from eucalyptus trees - which grow fast and thick on low grade land. In comparison to cotton these trees take about 80% less water to grow - and because it is manufactured in a very environmentally friendly process we also see significant chemical and CO2 savings when compared to conventional cotton.
